What size braid do I need?

I'm looking at getting some braid to do the fan cables in the Antec 1200 I'm getting soon, as there are so many fans, as some nice black braid will hide them from standing out against the flush black finish of the insides.

The only problem is I don't know what size to get. It will be used to house the 2 very thin wires on a standard fan.

Available: 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, or 10mm diameter braids.

I also need the relevant heat shrink...

Available: 3.2, 4.8, 6.5, 9.5, or 12.7mm diameter heat shrink.

The heat shrink I'm looking at has a 2:1 shrink ratio.

Thanks :)

what you need to remember is that 2:1 heatshink halfs in diamiter once heated.

what i use is 3.2mm with 3mm braid, its VERY tight to get over the braid, only good if your doing single psu wires or double thin wires (fans, switches etc)

if you can get your hands on some 3:1 heatshrink and get a bigger diamiter as it will be easier to get a good finish.

3:1 tends to be harder to get and more expensive though.

IIRC you need 3mm braid and 5mm heatshrink, but I am sure someone else will be along to confirm this.

Sounds good to me!

I don't think I'd bother with trying to find some 3:1 stuff, what Diggsy suggested sounds OK?

Yea, I used 3mm braid and 5mm heat shrink when I was braiding my cables, works fine, no problems at all. Like Steven said though, 3:1 would be better but I dont really think its worth it really :p
