What size Fred Perry polo is suitable?

Hi,
I'm going to purchase a plain Fred Perry M6000 model polo shirt (the non-twin tip version), but I'm unsure on the size to get. I'm currently carrying a stone of fat that I intend to lose.

Having tried on the Fred Perry polo shirt in the XL and XXL sizes I find:
An XL Fred Perry polo shirt is snug around my stomach (23.5" pit to pit width) and tight around my arms (7" in width).
An XXL Fred Perry polo shirt is looser around my stomach (25" pit to pit width) and not hugging at all, and a little looser around the arms (7.5" width) but still tightish.

Both the XL and XXL are the same in length.

I wash all my clothes on a normal cotton 30 degree wash, minimal spin, and then hang-dry. Should the polo shirt shrink even half a size then the XXL is the size to get.

Do Fred Perry polo shirts shrink at 30 degree washes?

Do you have any experience to guide me on the size to purchase?
Thanks.

I'm currently 17st with muscular build but am carrying about 1st of fat/water retention. I aim to get to 16st. When I was 15st 7lbs, a size 6 Lacoste (washed many times) was the correct size.

My inclination is to purchase the XL but then I thought about any cotton material shrinkage.

Get the smaller size (XL) as I suspect you're lying to yourself a bit about just how overweight you are/how much you need to lose - so a smaller size + shrinkage might make that more apparent and give you some incentive!

it really depends on the fit you want... like most brands they have a tight/musclar fit and a casual fit... I'm not hooli enough to wear fred perry but I'm sure if you visit some of the football "fan" groups, they will be able to recommend the right ones to fit in.

But if your after a gucci belt you come to the right place... :D

XXL for the olympic medal bearer grindset look.
