I'm currently specing for a build around the Intel Core i5 12600K with the aim to incorporate an RTX 3080 (at some point in the future when the prices drop).
Can someone advise what size of power supply would be required, 750, 850?

Thanks

Any decent brand psu, I'd probably go 850w if it was me, just to give a bit more headroom. I'm running a ryzen build with a 3080 on a 620w with no issues at all.

The Bequiet is overpriced and only has a 5 year warranty. My choice would be the 2021 Corsair RM850x which is £20 cheaper and has double the warranty length at 10 years. Other options would be the Phanteks Amp 850w, Phanteks Revolt Pro 850w and the Corsair RM 850w (2021 version is cheaper but out of stock) all of which also have a 10 year warranty.

For reference..... Just used a power meter on my sons PC while he was gaming, 332W (double that for a power supply so it runs close to its 50% sweet spot). It's a 6 core Intel, 12gb ram, ssd, HD sound blaster, DVD writer and 1080ti video. He'll be getting a new 850w Seasonic PrimeTX Titanium soon to replace his old corsair gold 1000W (from another PC, obviously over powered). The Seasonic has a 12 year guarantee and much better than average build and output quality.

In a perfect world, you should calculate the peak wattage of your computer then buy a PSU that's rated double this.

However if your buying a high end gaming PC above is not always feasible, however for anything else above should be the aim.
