Wifey is buying toys for her car, we've ditched the parcel shelf with the huge holes in, so 6x9s are out of the question!

From what i can tell by peering through the door grills, the last owner has removed his shiney kit and left us with half decent speaker wire.

Just need to know the size of the front door and the rear corner speakers now (think the rears are 4")

cheers

I think they are either 13cm or 15cm, give Halfords a ring, they can tell you over the phone...

R reg is a bit vague i'm afraid. Is it Mk3 or Mk4!?

If its MK4 they are 6.5in (17cm) in the front with a tweeter in the door mirror pod.

If its not a MK4 but a MK3 (this was change over year btw), then its also 6.5"

Think it's a mk3, the "bubble" shape. It's got the tweeter mounts in the back of the mirror pods.

Not got any old speakers to take with me :(

Right, i've just checked. They are actually 100% 6.5" (17cm) in the fronts with 1" tweeters. Buying a component set (in 17cm) will fit straight in. You are likely however to need spacer rings, or knock some up from MDF.

Autoleads do plastic spacer rings (these do not foul the doors, and ensure the new deep speakers do not foul the window)...but being plastic, if she was after a real punchy system, would not help with the overall sounding...
