What size tubing

Just a bit of a noob question, but what tubing size is best to use?

Best for higher amount of water with slightly less flow rate,
or

lower amount of water with higher flow rate?

well ive allways gone with 1/2 tubing. Ive read many times its better altho some perfer 3/8 tubing.

7/16" is currently considered best, fits over 1/2" barbs, but not so thick and kinks less
