What size van for move?

Hey,

So long as everyone in the chain exchanges on time, we are moving on friday.
We are a family of four, but I've already shifted about 8 full car loads of stuff to relatives houses to ease the move when the day comes.

Left to move will be 1 double bed, 2 single beds, a sofa, 2 poofs, a computer desk and a few other boxes and some kitchen stuff for example.

Do you reckon I could fit this into a Long Wheel Base Van in 1 trip?
Pretty sure the next size down could result in 2 trips which may not be ideal while someone is trying to move into our house simultaneously.

Cheers.

This may sound like over kill but may be have a look at a luton van (they have tail lifts in case you didn't know :) ).
You can get one on a normal licence and would set you back about £80 for 24 hours. You would easily get the stuff you have left to move in one and you could use it to get bits from your relatives to save you going backwards and forwards in a car.
Just an idea.

In answer to your question though; yes you would. With some sensible loading you would have room to spare.

Luton van with tail lift, far easier to load with furniture than a hi-top long wheelbase van, & I'm speaking from experience.

I moved recently in a hi top LWB van, It was OK but things such as the fridge freezer had to go in at a slight Angle and were an absolute ballache to load into the van, Given the choice I would get a Luton van with Tail lift.

As already stated, you would have to be sensible when loading, Are you any good at Tetris?

As above, or at least a Merc Sprinter. It is amazing how much crap one has in their house without realising the space it takes up.

So true. Last time I moved I uaed my Ford Focus and girlfriends Corsa and it to about 10 trips each. Even packing my stuff up took ages. Hopefully won't have to move again for a while now.

Yup, this 100%

We did contents of our first house (granted this was only two of us) with one trip in the Luton. Felt like a bit of a waste at the time but doing the lot in one go was just far nicer.

Saying that, if you're not too far away and you're not pushed to be out/in then a smaller van/multiple trips may be cheaper but these days Lutons are pretty inexpensive to hire.

Yes a Luton is probably only £10 per 24 hours more than a lwb transit and is much more convenient. As well as the tail lift I was offered curtain sides and was told this makes things easier if you can't reverse on your drive and need to unload/pack from the side.

Edit: I was quoted £58 for 24 hours with a 200 free mile allowance from a local place.
