Guys,

I was one of the unfortunate ones to have purchased the Asus Striker II Extreme motherbard and if it was not for its unstability this board is amazing but I just cant bare the random freezing anymore :(

I want a board that can deliver and I want SLI with also the space to add my xfi soundcard. Money is not an issue as I am hopefully getting a refund from OCUK as I am in the process of requesting a refund.

I also have recently added a water cooling kit and therefore would like to get up to 4ghz as on this striker board I am currently on 3.6 stable in prime for 8 hrs etc but just freezes in games and looking at the asus forums it looks like everyone is getting problems possibily memory timmings or something in bios as they have released like 10 versions of bios and still no joy. Putting this down to DDR3 being the new thing and no one has tested it enough :(

Your help is appreciated

i personally have a eVGA 680i mobo and i wouldnt trade it for the world!

i run a QX6800 @ 3.5 prime stable 4 DDR2 modules of ram and 8800GTX's in SLi

and ive put custom waterblocks on it too and its only got better! :)

If you have a large budget, you can't go wrong with the eVGA 790i. A 790i of some kind is definately the best. I'm currently running a eVGA 680i, 6600 @ 3.2Ghz completely stable with 4GB RAM.

I would go for an EVGA board if it was me. If money no problem do as already suggested get the 790i with new expensive DDR3 RAM. After having problems with an MSI 780i and an Asus 780i, I have finally finished up with an EVGA 780i. It is rock solid and never gives me a problem (touches wood :D)

Only the new 790i is any good really, the others are just rubbish. It's DDR3-only though, but if you look around you can get a set of 2Gb for £70 ish.

Hmm........ ok guys thanks for your replys but I think your missing the point.

I have already got the asus striker II extreme which is the new 790i chipset with DDR3 memory but this thing is got serious issues with bios and memory timings and random freezing etc even though I have managed to get a 3.6 over clock stable using prime95 for over 8 hours but as soon as i use an application or play games after about 30mins to an hour it locks up

So I was wondering if there was any alternative board out that that has been tried and tested thats worth having?

Must have SLI as I have 2x 8800 Ultra cards and at least a slot that can be used for my xfi soundcard. I have the q6600 GO SLACR chip (lapped) and have a water cooling kit.

So I was under the impression because 790i and ddr3 memory is all new is this kind of problem going to be across the board (no punn intended) and as I have got water cooling for the fusiion system on this striker II extreme board I would like to maybe be able to do the same thing and the only other one that I have seen with a similar setup is this one but it odes not look like it has a slot i can use for my soundcard if i use 2 x 8800 ultras in sli ?
