What software do you use to bench stability? Temps? Voltages?

untitledjn1.jpg

TAT and coretemp shows temps nearly 10% higher than Everest :eek:

Also is the voltage right for my chip? How do you use Everest to actually bench the ram speeds etc?

Seen a lot of people using Everest.

Never sure what to use for temps, different programs give different readings.

I've used Orth for stability, passed over 24hours stable. Went to burn a dvd and got a crash lol

Orthos for stability
Temps: Core temp + Everest Ultimate
Voltage: Everest Ultimate
Benching: SiSoftware, Everest Ultimate, superpi, Cinebench

I have Everest Ultimate. How exactly can you use this to bench? I click benchmark at the bottom but shows some charts:confused:

Also, when it is open, right click "Everest Ultimate" icon down at clock->Tools->Cache & Memory Benchmark....

Cheers tried that. Everest scores me

CPU (in sig) - 5051

Some chepo ddr400 2gb ram, running at 176mhz
Memory Read - 4834
Memory Write - 4952
Memory Copy - 3644
Memory Latency - 108.6ns

Will test with the GeiL ddr2 800mhz ram tomorrow :D Expecting the p35C DSR this week to. Not sure if that will effect the scores :)

Don't get this, my ddr2 is actually slower according to everest :o

See above

Have you updated the BIOS and are you running the Geil at 800mhz 4-4-4-12?

CPUZ says freq is 200mhz, which would mean its at 400mhz not 800?

I'm running cpu at stock as you know im having a little heat problem :p which i just posted pictures on the other thread with my thermal paste :p

Not sure on the timings, something like 3,3,3,5 i cant remember off the top of my head untill i put the cpu fan back on.

BIOS is f2 if i remember.

Sorted, Everest now says

Memory Read - 4834(ddr) - 4176(ddr2) 6194 (After tweaking)
Memory Write - 4952(ddr) - 3649 (ddr2) 5459 (After tweaking)
Memory Copy - 3644(ddr) - 3879 (ddr2) 5463 (After tweaking)
Memory Latency - 108.6ns(ddr) - 114.3ns (ddr2) 78ns (After tweaking)

Running at 4-4-4-12 2.1v - 300mhz (Cant get it to boot at 400mhz) - 8x300 - 2.4ghz.. CPU getting too toasty now, think a new cooler is neded :(

Yeah it is, except the memory runs faster than the FSB rather than slower.

266 x 3.0 = 800mhz.

It would ensure that the memory can run at 800mhz.

Will try that now, still tryin to get my head around it tho!

EDIT- Here we are, doing 266x9 on a memory multi of x3

Memory Read - 6194 6725
Memory Write - 5459 4828
Memory Copy - 5463 5368
Memory Latency -78ns 65.5nm

Lost points on write and copy, but gained on read and latency. Strange!
Which ones are the most important to get low?

Latency is the only one you want to go lower. You want the others to be as high as possible.

seems memory suffers on high multipliers then.

I done a test on 2x multi and memory at 400mhz cpu at 3ghz i scored over 7k on the read and 6k on everything else with latency in 60's

Just done a test with a high multi, cpu at 1.8, memory still at 400mhz but only got 5k on read 3k on the rest and 84 latency.

Wish i can sort this cooling out so i can start clocking, idle temp at 1.8ghz is 42 again >< Even dropped voltage to 1.2 (not sure if that is clever or not)
