I've been running my Nickel EK CPU & GFX blocks with FluidXP since November so i see it's time for a change, i'd rather go down the distilled route with a killcoil but i hear that Nickel + killcoil is not a good mix, so what do i do?
I'll be changing the tubing to white so could not care less for clear liquid!

Any help appreciated :)
Thanks,
Matt

Nickel and killcoil is fine. Don't worry about t.

I know you must be worried due to the EK problems, however I very much doubt that killcoils, which people have been using with the nickel EK blocks for years are the problem. Go for it. If something happens, the warranty will cover the block

Ok everyone says that killcoils are OK to use together with Nikel blocks.... From what I've read I would say DO NOT use a killcoil with EK Nikel Blocks. They have issues with their nikel blocks as it has been found that there are issues with the nikel coating and silver killcoils/copper sulphate. To be on the safe side, why not use an alternative biocide.

Distilled, De-Ionised or purified water should not cause any issues.

No there is no issue with silver coils and nickel plating people have been doing it for years with various amount of blocks, EK is trying to put their nickel plating problem on the user.

^This.

Why don’t people have issues with other vender blocks?
Why don’t people have issues with older EK nickel blocks?

IMO: Something changed their end.

You mis-read what I said...

I hope that makes things easier for you.

Ive got three nickel blocks all bought at different times all from different suppliers no problems.

a lot of people on this forum use it and no one as posted about it yet

It will be fine. As koooowweeee said, Many people have been using it for years and nobody here has had a problem

EK's official recommendation is EC6 - Thats what I switched to last week mate. I'd rather use something thats been tried and tested over years and years (just google EC6 review) than use something which has the 'potential' to damage our Nickel blocks over time.

Approx £8 for 1 litre which should be just enough to fill the average loop (I have 1 120.3 rad, 1 Supreme HF Nickel, and 2 Nickel FC-5850's with DDC and XSPC Pump Res top). I thought 1 litre wouldn't be enough as I was filling it but it turns out it was just enough with a tad left over ;)

Suppose with EC6 you don't have to worry about Algae and Anti-corrosion stuff - hence why I went for it.

hth.

EC6 sounds good... I'm opting for De-Ionised water @ £2.25 for 2.5 litres plus an anti corrosion/inhibitor.... Fingers crossed.

Might wanna check your local halfords then dude - I could swear it was only £2.99 or somat for 5 litres of de-ionised.

Only problem with de-ionised is that it can be ionised over time.....

Checked Halfords and DI water is £3.99/5ltr now. I agree about the re-ionisation but to some extent distilled has ions removed too, or so I thought. If I went for distilled, that well known auction site has plenty.

Yep, Halfords do deionised for £3.99/5ltr still. Bought some last week :D Also in sheer frustration and stupidity I ended up buying distilled from amazon for £18/5ltrs :o

Kill coil and deionized is the best bet, that's what I've been using :)

The nickel has been fine for me, but ymmv. If you want some colour I would highly recommend mayhems, it's fantastic :)
