I have been tinkering with the idea of a new car.

I have had my honda civic EP3 around 1year, fun car but i want to jump up in power. Power and class.

I have noticed the Audi RS4, anyone have any other ideas of a car which holds this kind of power and performance.

oh and anyone have an RS4 here?

Which RS4 are we talking about here? Whats the budget?

There is an RS4 owner here, who will be happy to tell you about the costs involved with owning a car like this.

this :D

30k be my limit.

I've got no idea if you've any idea how much this sort of car costs to run (They are properly expensive, it will make your Civic look like a 1.25 Fiesta in running costs) but presuming you do and can easily afford it I'd rather have an E92 M3 than an RS4 at that sort of budget. It's just a better, newer, more modern car.

running costs are not a problem. I do around 3,ooo miles per year.

The M3 looks a complete animal, but the RS4 is 4WD and its less common over the BMW. Id need to test drive them.

I want something classy without in your face, the RS4 is just about subtle enough in my eyes.

30k will see a decent RS4 from what i gather, with 25k getting the higher 60k mileage options.

It's not just variably costs like fuel. You've still got to service it and repair it when it goes wrong.

Neither car is parked on every street corner. Buy the best car not the one you see the least of.

If you hardly drive it does seem a bit odd to send £30,000 on a car.

Dont follow the crowd, buy something a bit different :)

Then find out why the crowd don't bother with it, after you've spent a load of cash on it.

sadly the crowd are sheep, you can see this by the number of 3 series drivers that have convinced themself that a **** 320 is actually a good car.

For what it does, the 320d is the very definition of 'a good car'. It's reasonably quick, it's economical, it's well specified, it is comfortable, it has room for 4, it handles well, it's pretty nicely made.

i was talking about the petrol one and they are rubbish bought by people after the badge

My friend had a BMW M3 and it was nice but I have always been put off them for some reason.

The RS4 in my eyes is the one or at least at the moment, like i said im going to test drive when i can.

And 30k is a lot for a car BUT... If i work hard then when i rest ill want to drive a nice car. No point working my balls out to keep it in the bank ay. :)

RS4 for me at the moment, any other takers.

thanks for replys too.

An engine alone doesn't change a 'very good' car into a 'rubbish' car. I'm not a particular fan of the 2.0 4 cylinder engine but it alone cannot make a great car a 'rubbish' one.

It's no more 'rubbish' than a 2.0 Mondeo, Focus, Insignia or whatever?

Besides, you are talking about sheep - I cant remember the last time I saw a 320i! There are hardly any around.

Actually between 2005 and 2010 BMW sold in the UK just 2800 320i Saloons a year. In the same period, they sold on average 10,000 320d Saloons a year.

The sheep are not buying 320i.

It also depends whether you wish to be held at gunpoint whilst being demanded to hand the keys over.

come on you cant make that a deciding factor when you buy a car surely
