What sort of bios options do intel boards offer?

Hey guys. I'm looking around for a 775 matx board, and tempted to go with an intel referance board. Probably a G35 chipset. I don't know very much about them, the argument in favour is stability.

However, I would very much like to be able to undervolt the c2d chip it runs. Overclocking is less important, but would be a useful option. Does anyone know if intel boards tend to offer undervolting, or if there's any other reason why I should stick with gigabyte/asus over intel?

Cheers

AFAIK, intel boards are very limited in bios options, you probably won't get any options other than boot device and security. I don't think you will get voltage options in those.

going by what I heard but there bios is supposedly mostly locked, only giving you limited options to work with, and no OC'ing :/

dont quote me on it, only what I heard.

However also told there great boards for compatibility and life if you don't want to overclock at all.

Go for a board like this Gigabyte are a very good brand that have very few compatibility issues that I can think of, plus it should offer a very wide range of OCing options. The added bonus is that its a G45 chipset and not a G35.

Damn. This is what I feared. Overclocking is of minimal importance, but undervolting in order to reduce power consumption and working temperatures is quite important. Good to know what I'm working with though, thank you
