What sort of budget am I looking at for 4k gaming?

Tempted to build a new computer probably in August and I'll be looking at building one with 4k gaming in mind, preferably on max settings with a steady frame rate. What sort of budget will I be needing for this roughly? I'd assume I'd be needing to run dual GPUs? I won't actually be getting a 4k monitor until probably winter but will still be looking to build with 4k in mind.

SLI 1080 gpus - these alone will be £1100+

Then you have the rest of the build to do.

Speaking from experiance as a 4k Gamer, this will be overkill.

A single 1080 should be enough. I get 40-55 fps in games like witcher 3, the division etc... on high/ultra settings on a single 980 ti.

Budget wise you can build yourself a no frills skylake system 8gb ram 500gb SSD for ~£500 plus the cost of a 1080 £550 - £600 then choose your 4k monitor.

I guess if the 1080 is as good as they say then you might be ok with 1 of them. I still think 2 will be needed for future titles and to future proof himself for a couple of years.

You'd be looking at the 2k mark as previously said. But if you're not looking at playing everything on ultra with everything maxed out then you can happily spend 1.5k
