What sort of card for around the £250 mark?

Hi guys,

Looking to get an upgrade on my GTX 970 and I’m looking to spend around £250. Don’t mind going a bit higher if it’s worthwhile. It’s been a long time since I really bothered with PC gaming but I want to at least have the choice to play games at 1440p with decent settings.

Now, I realise that buying a brand new card at this price point isn’t going to get me anything particularly worthwhile so I’m anticipating going 2nd hand. Obviously I can’t get direct links to any 2nd hand cards for sale but I’m just wondering what used cards people would recommend at this sort of budget?

From a quick look I think somewhere around a 2070 Super could be viable but wondering if there are any other thoughts or considerations here.

I do. I never seem to be quick enough to get the good deals though :) But I will be scouring it more frequently.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Fair point about used cards likely having been hammered with mining for most of their lives too, so perhaps I am better off just buying something new.

I have considered just throwing more money at a new card but I know if I don't just be firm with myself then I can somehow end up convincing myself that £500+ for a 3070 makes sense :D (it doesn't for what's likely to be occasional use in my case).

Will do some research on 6650 XT and 6700 cards. I could potentially be persuaded to do £339 on the 6700 :)

Does anyone reckon the imminent announcement of the RTX 4070 Ti is likely to result in any price drops for the 3000 series cards?
