What sort of console would be best for casual games ( 2 player split screen)

As the title says looking to get a console for fun casual games to play with the Mrs over xmas, I was thinking a Xbox series S but not sure if that would be overkill.
The only game I've seen so far that I think she would play is hotwheels unleashed & probably marioKart, they don't have to all be driving games but they need to be easy to get into.
Any other suggestions for a console that fits this bill ??
