Should I hear between my previous motherboard sound (realtek hi def audio) and the xfi extreme gamer sound card I'm about to install?

also as this is the first sound card I've ever had (seperate I mean) is there anything I should remember or look out for?

In games, the gamer is miles above realtek in sound quality and positional representation.
For music & videos, again the gamer makes a great job for audio listening.

It's hard to describe it but it will be clearer, cleaner, more crisp and more precise.
