What sort of instrument is this?

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone can tell me what sort of instrument is played in this song:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hrcTz5XRtN8 (it's Nickelback's Rockstar, you can hear it at about 0:20 onwards for the first verse).

It sounds like an organ of some kind, but nothing on my keyboard even comes close to sounding like it. I've heard it in quite a lot of other songs as well. Any ideas?

Hammond B3 with a Leslie? That's a pretty poor quality recording (and the song is :eek:

) but it'll probably be something like that, as already suggested

Yes - the second tier keyboard he plays is the kind of thing I mean. Sort of a punchy sound, difficult to describe. I'm really a numpty when it comes to organs, is that a Hammond then? And are there any VSTs which can replicate it fairly accurately?

Get Hammond B3 and you'll be sorted

Nothing sounds like a proper Hammond Organ though.

Around 1978 I was in a band called Rocking Horse and the keyboard player had a Hammond and Leslie speaker.
It used to be great fun carrying them up a flight of stairs.
