What sort of price should I be aiming for...

Hi all,

Just wondering what sort of price you would expect insurance to cost for

2001 Ford fiesta, 1.25L - 17 year old, male, 0 ncb,

Also, can anyone reccomend any good insurance companys for young drivers?

Im looking now and the quotes are coming out between £3,500 and £7,500...which is why I started this thread.

Surley to hell this must be too much?

I have tried with and without pass plus.

I just did asda and that came out as £4,900

At this rate I wont be getting a car afterall

Still doing it, but its not going very well.

Just read current insurance threads to realise that going on your parents insurance is only delaying the inevitable. It will still be extortionate as you will have no NCB for yourself.

So your saying that If I go on my parents insurance for a year, I will be in the exact same boat in 12 months time?

Ok cheapest quote I got at the moment is £3480 fully comp. Thats from tescos.

Im all out of ideas now, I have been through that whole list that you posted.

The car im looking at is £3400, so when its insured its going to be double that.

I suppose this is just how its going to be, If I want to get on the roads and lower these prices with NCB and such, Im just going to have to find the money. (a lot easier said than done though!)

I was considering pass plus, and so I have looked for some quotes with and without, just to see if its worth doing it.

Some of the quotes that included pass plus were still more expensive than the tescos one (which doesnt include pass plus as ther website doesnt offer the option)

So at the moment tescos are winning, they are the lowest and hopefully they might knock a little more off for pass plus.

Just online, to see where the land lies.

Its my intention to get a load of online ones, and then phone say the top 4 and see if they can offer anything further.

Will the quotes be much different when I phone?

Update: With pass plus tescos are offering £2488, hopefully I might be able to haggle a couple of hundred on the phone, but at least now its looking a little more affordable.

Does this sound reasonable to people?
