I am currently job searching looking for business analyst type jobs with a bit of a design element. I currently work as a business analyst in the talent managemnet industry and looking to move industry for a change. Anyway I have a potential interview on the cards and the employer is asking what sort of annual salary I would be looking for.

The job spec is along these lines and is in Edinburgh:

Responsibilities:
• Work with Solution Management and client-facing teams to analyse and understand end user needs and use cases and define solution requirements.
• Develop use case scenarios and task flows for new features and functions.
• Work with Solution Management, Development and Design to create designs and prototypes to meet solution requirements and ensure smooth and accurate final implementation.
• Contribute to the ongoing development of a strong product management and design culture within the company.
• Delivery to set deadlines Quality of requirements analysis and designs

Requirements:
• Ability to translate complex business requirements into user centred designs.
• Knowledge of usability standards and techniques and the ability to apply them.
• Strong communication skills.
• 2-3 years experience in use case analysis, requirements definition and user centred design

I was thinking something like 32k + benefits like private health and pension. Looking for advice if this is a standard rate or below the average for a role like this?

Cheers

I think most of the perm BAs / UXs / IAs I work with in media and law are around £40 - £50K in London. People keep bringing me perm SBA roles up to about £65k.

Unfortunately I tend to find that even as close to London as places like Reading it's about £30-£40k.

Interesting you do BA with UCD, It's not particularly well recognised and asked for even less as a skill set, however, I think it's an excellent experiance to have and if you can get businesses to buy into it then it's excellent. I'm actually taking Alan Cooper's 'The Inmates are Running the Asylum' on holiday to re-read after 10 years.

Thanks for the advice guys I'm gonna follow this interview up and ask for 32 with benefits that I currently have like private health care and pension.

Will check that book out to

Scottish Project Manager bracket tends to be 27k - 33k with Car + Various Benefits, if you don't have the 2-3 years specific experience they are asking for if you were successful I'd be expecting the lower end of the bracket.
