What sort of system do you need to run the sims2 at 60fps? Tips to improve COD2 rate?

I bought my kids the sims 2 yesterday, i thought it would run at 60fps with my pc. 2gb ram, x1800xt and p4 @ 3.55ghz. Quake 4 runs 60fps without any frame drops, so why cant the sims?

Is the game a cpu hog? It hits 60fps in places, but in the house, its only getting about 45.

For my own fun, i also bought Call of Duty 2. It runs quite well at 1280x1024, getting about 45fps, i know this is a system hog, but is there any tweaks that i could do to get this running silky at 60fps?

Set CoD2 to dx7 render mode instead of dx9, will give you a huge FPS boost.

As for the Sims2, it's very cpu dependent, for a steady 60fps I'd guess you'd need a 2.8ghz A64 or above. Then again it's not really the sort of game where you need high framerate anyway (compared to FPS games).

That would give COD2 a huge boost in FPS, but it would look more like COD 1

Disablingn shadows is usually a decent place to start with this kind of game. Check for driver updates and any game Config file tweeks. For my 7800GTX, the 82.12 drivers made a big difference and there is a Config File tweak that added a few more FPS but as i said this is for a 7800GTX (Out of the box, the game is set up for SLI so has a performance hit when using a single card so editing the Config file is neccisarry).
