What sorts of temperatures and voltages can a Core i7 2600K take??

I see some people on forums using nearly 1.5V to get 5GHZ(or slightly above) and temperatures in the mid seventies under stress tests.

Is this safe for long term use?? I get the impression that it almost like permanently adding nitro to your fuel mix and hoping your engine won't explode!!:p

I thought it was wise to not really exceed 1.38V:

Edit!!

Now it says 1.425V here:

Might get one, my 9550 isn't showing it's age yet with my GPU so happy enough. I guess some of the epeen fans will have to have it though :p

Err, I think I might have posted this in the wrong thread. I could have sworn it said "who is getting ivybridge" in the thread title???

No higher than 1.42v and under 70c is recommended for long term use. I would not run a 2600K 24/7 at 5Ghz, I believe most people that have hit 5Ghz only held it there for benches, then backed it down a bit unless it was a really good chip and needed low voltage to keep it there.

It will change with Ivy Bridge. Keeping those chips under 200c will be seen as an achievement :p
