What sound card to go with Aego M?

Hi there,

Looking to buy some Aego M speakers soon and I assume I'll need a sound card to go with them, Unless my onboard sound would be suitable? (Built into my Asus A8N-E Mobo). My main use is playing music (mp3's) and I dont play games at all on my pc.

Been looking at the X-Fi Xtreme Music but I've seen a lot of people mention that it's a card which is inclined to gaming, which I dont need.

Anyone got any other suggestions? Preferably a little cheaper but not essential.

If gaming is not a requirement, the EMU 0404 is a viable solution.

Still, the X-Fi does have some nice features for watching movies.

another vote for the X-fi, went from audigy 2 to this a month or 2 ago, and have the Aegos as well and its a great combo. its not all about gaming, the way it upmixs MP3s works a treat. sounds so much better then my old card

its all subjective mate, for the sake of few quid it really is worth goin gfor the x - fi to get the most out of your speakers, shop around.

I got a mint second hand one for under £40 off an auction site. less then i paid for my audigy 2

It should be noted that not everyone appreciate the Crystalizer/other gimmick. The only one I found "gimmick" I like is the CMSS with headphones, but for movies only.

Again, from a purely point of view, there are card offering higher quality sound.
