Not interested in headphones.

What speaker setup do you guys use for gaming? I have a Logitech 5.1 setup connected to my Soundblaster Z and it sounds lacking in some way. To test a theory out I connected the Soundblaster Z up to my Panasonic amp and my 5.1 home theater speakers but I am not happy with that either. The centre speaker is overpowering everything and I have it turned down to it's lowest setting.

I play a mix of games including fps, rts, mmo, flight, train and racing sims and was wondering if a decent set of 2.1 or even a pair of stereo speakers such as the Edifier's OCUK sell are enough for gaming and music?

Well I have a set of Corsair SP2500's which I use for gaming when I can and when I am not using headphones. I have owned them for a few years now and still think they are pretty bloody good. They still make me smile and they are pretty decent for music as well.

I don't think there is a lot out there for less than £200 which can beat them.

Since I bought them I have moved my setup to a pretty small room, my man cave, and the bass bin does take up a lot of space and they do not sound anywhere near as good as they did in a larger room. If I was buying now with my size constraints I would probably get some normal stereo speakers, probably some active ones like the M-Audio BX5 D2's, the Roth OLI POWA5 or the Ruark Audio MR1.

When I'm not using my AKG K702 HEADPHONES :p I'm using a pair of Edifier R1600T II speakers.

Since getting them I've not felt the need to go multi channel as good stereo, for me, is enough for game immersion and my music requirements.

Mainly use my headphones, AKG K712 Pro, When I cannot be bothered with them I use my Corsair Sp2500's which is not much.

Mainly use my DT770 headphones powered by a Schiit stack but the odd occasion I use my speakers they are Edifier R1600T II

Im just using Logitech x-530s, they sound fine to me, off a Xonar U7 :p

I have X-540's but they just don't seem to do it for me if you see what I mean. I know they are not expensive speakers so won't be up there with the best but I can't help but feel something is missing. I have installed the pax drivers for the Z now and they seem to have made things worse. I think I need to play around with my setup some more.

Many thanks for the responses guys.

I use a xonar essence st out to a marantz AV7701 preamp/processor. This is then fed out to an InterM R300 power amp and a pair of Spendor SP2/3e (or tannoy SRM-10B) speakers for the front, a Harrison Xi150 power amp for the in ceiling rear speakers and a home made 10" sub woofer.
