Hello,

I'm looking in investing in a reasonably cheap laptop for when I return home for the weekend/go to the girlfriends/travelling etc. It will be mostly used for uni work, so office and a few low-power chemistry specific programs. Wouldn't mind if it could play a bit of CS:GO/PvZ: Garden Warfare (not arsed about gfx quality too much as long as its smooth and playable) but it's not a priority.

Ideally I would like a 15.6" screen or larger, as when travelling it will be used for movies sporadically. Aside from that, I know little about laptop specs and nothing about the second hand market for them - which is where you lovely people come in. What kind of spec should I be looking at within (and at a lower) budget that suits my needs? Is there anything available new/refurbed that would be suitable?

Thanks in advance,
Cookeh

£200 is a very small budget for what you're after. Your best bet would be to look on Ebay for a laptop with a dedicated GPU. Just something standard like a GT640M.

That's my advice anyway :)

I'm not too fussed about the gaming aspect, I do have a high end desktop after all. So really, as long as it can hack HD playback I'll be happy.

Does this open up any further options? What should I be looking at can wise? 2nd/3rd gen i5?

If you get something used then theres a chance you could find a 3rd gen i5 on somewhere like Ebay. Do some scouring and post us the specs of whatever you find and i'll let you know how they sound.
