Mine was an AST advantage adventure Pentium 60mhz beast. With 8mb of ram and a Cirrus Logic GD5424 LocalBus PCI Video Chipset. Just can't remember what size hard drive, wasn't very big thats for sure. Just can't remember what year it was. Definetly early 90's thats for sure. Dad originally got a 486 DX 50 model ( correct me if I'm wrong). He wasn't happy with that and the newly released more powerful P60 had come out so he traded it back for that. Came with windows 3.1 and dos and was one of the first to have a cd-rom drive. I remember ram cost an absolute fortune. Like £100 for 8mb. All becuase some factory that made the ram burnt down so prices went up.

Dad decided to get internet too. I managed to run up a phone bill of £400 looking for smutty pictures. They weren't best pleased :(

Sorry if this kind of post has been done before. I did a search and couldn't find one. Im sure there probably is one.

P100, 8 MB RAM, 1.2 GB HDD, 2MB SIS VGA, Onboard sound.

It was an AST Advantage 623, which had been sold to my parents by an advert in the Times stating that buying the PC with all its bundled software would be like giving their children a private education.

Despite my protestations that there were better deals on the market, they went with this one on the basis of it being a so-called educational tool.

A few years after that I built myself a PC. This started life as an AMD K6-200 with 32 MB RAM, Voodoo3 2000 PCI, 16 Bit soundcard. This then soon changed on an AMD K6-3 400, with 128 MB RAM and the same graphics and sound cards. A year later I bought myself a Duron 650, Abit KT7, 512 MB RAM and a Geforce 2 MX. 18 months later I upgraded the CPU to a Thunderbird 1200 and the graphics card to a Geforce 2 Titanium. I kept this PC until Jan 2005, when I upgraded to a pre-built Dell system - PIV 3 Ghz, 2 GB RAM. I added a Geforce 6800 GT to allow me to play games, which I haven't done.

I stopped playing games in 2002, when I started working in IT.

Ah ha, i remember it well, the first PC i owned was from radio rentals and i mustve paid a bomb for it but it was :

Olivetti brand in a small desktop case
P75 CPU
8Mb EDO RAM
4x CDROM
Soundblsater card
Onboard 1Mb VGA
850Mb HDD
Windows 95

Over time i upgraded it by adding an extra 1gb HDD, another 8Mb RAM ( cost me £45 per 4Mb SIMM ) and a RAM expansion for the onboard VGA taking it to 2Mb. Also got an external parallel port tape drive and it took 3 or 4 120Mb tapes to backup my HDD

Then got my first internet connection by getting an external Hayes Accura 14.4k modem and signing up for compuserve

I thought it was great after coming from an Amiga 1200, i purchased it specifically to play SimCity2000 and Theme Park, had both on the amiga but the PC versions were much better

First PC was a 486dx2 with a meaty 8MB of RAM and a 500MB HDD. Woof. Ran Duke Nukem 3D without any issues, it's time to kick ass and chew bubblegum.

I had:

Windows 98
4gb HDD
Floppy
CD-Rom
Onboard Sound
15" CRT
Onboard graphics

and i later bought a CD-RW which cost the world!

It was an Olivetti 8088 based "laptop" (wouldn't actually put it on your lap as it would break your legs). Two 3.5" floppy drives (double density not high density), a monochrome 8" screen, and a keyboard with full sized keys!

athlon xp3200, 2gb ram, fx5200
teratec dmx 6fire (still using in my rig)

i did have a spectrum zx when i was 9

i remember my dad having an amstrad sommit or other and a zenith word processor then in the late 90s he had a mitsubishi 166mmx
