What spec was your very first PC system ??

I don't remember the exact spec, but the first PC I bought myself was a pentium 2 with windows 98, 15 inch crt monitor. The first one I used however was a 486.

Hmmm can't remember the first one I used, though I found one of the old ones I thought had been thrown out years ago. It has a massive 1.2gb hdd though lol.

First one I bought was an AMD Athlon 3200+ (2Ghz iirc) 512MB ram, 120gb hdd with some cheapo gfx card, 15" CRT monitor.

Cyrax something or other, wasnt quite as good as a pentium 1.
30mb ram
2.1gb HDD
Should have had windows 95 on it but we got windows 98 from a cousin.

I could play Diablo 1, and a little bit of Starcraft.
It also had to be given a ram upgrade for broadband.

I can scarcely remember, something like a 386 33mhz vga 4mb RAM and an 80mb hard disk. Some kind of sound card as well. Oh and a CD-Rom so I could run Day of the Tentacle.

Mine was a 486DX
Can't remember the RAM but I soon upgraded it to 4Mb
Put a 1Gb hard drive in it too!
SVGA monitor

It felt weird trying to remember that... 4Mb RAM, 1Gb hard drive? that can't be right surely?! Those were the days!

Actually the 1Gb HDD might have been in a later upgrade... I went to an AMD 5x86 after the 486.

I remember having 2x Voodoo 2's in SLI.... that was awesome

i couldnt afford to have 2x voodoo2, i had to make do with some 8mb agp card and my 12mb voodoo2 pci. Then i got a voodoo3 3000 agp and loved that card.

i did have an original voodoo card and i loved played turok on the pc it look amazing back in the day :)

The first PC my family had when I was born was a gateway something or other that came with MS-DOS installed.

The first PC that was actually mine which was build two years ago was;

Phenom II X4 940
ATI HD4850 512MB
4GB DDR2 6400 RAM
Blah Blah

The first PC I actually bought myself in full;

i5 2500k
AMD 6950 1GB
4GB XMS3
Corsair HX650w
Haf 922 case

As you can probably tell, I'm not that old :p.

First PC we had in our house was a Pentium 1 133MHz with 16MB of ram and a 1.5GB HDD, couldnt tell you what the GFX card was though.

Shoot forward to my age of 16 when I built my first proper PC for myself with:
Athlon XP 2500+
1GB Ram
80GB HDD
geforce 5600 256mb (it was a bit of a pants card really)

The year was 1994...

486SX25 (turbo button taking it from 16Mhz to 25Mhz)
1Mb RAM (I soon after paid £108 to buy 4 x 1Mb modules
S3 Virge VGA card
20Mb HDD
3.5" FDD
14" CRT colour monitor
Sound blaster 16 (or older)

Bought it for £100 off a mate that needed to do a bunk.
Only got rid of the keyboard last year. It was like triggers broom, it all got upgraded a dozen times over but to me it was still the same PC!

My Beast - My 1st ever build absolute beginner - scared

AMD K6 300
128Mb of Ram
Voodoo banshee 16mb video card
8gb Hard drive.
Windows 98
hideous 2nd hand Hitachi 17" CRT.
The ghetto case i bought came with a random PSU... IT worked i knew no better

Was awesome for Couterstrike and TFC... Played it from beta2 lol - Remember running guns back to the spawn points so your team had them next round?? :)

Hah! the only thing that ever mattered and the only thing that still annoys me to this day was when they got rid of the scope on the colt. True, it was too good, but i can still remember how gutted i was when they got rid of it.

my first pc was

pentium 2.5ghz dual core
3gb ddr3 ram
intel gma graphics
1tb hard drive
dvd-rw drive

I got it with my birthday money in 2009 I think

intel 200mhz@233mhz mmx CPU

Cost me over £1000....year was about 1987

Couldn't have been, Intel MMX Cpu's came out in 1997, I should know, I bought a 166MMX PC that year which replaced my original PC that I bought 3 years earlier.

Spec of that was:

486SX 33 (replaced by a 486 DX4 100 overdrive CPU later)
4mb (that's right, MEGABYTES :D) ram, upgraded to 8mb to play DOOM2!
512K S3 virge integrated graphics.
250mb seagate hard drive, noisy as hell :(
bog standard PSU & beige desktop case.
bog standard 14" 4:3 CRT monitor.
Windows 3.1 & dos 6.2 IIRC
lotus office software
all backed up onto 100! floppydisks :D :p

no CD rom drive, sound card or modem (had to buy those later) :(

Paid at the time about £1800 & spent a further £5-600 on it.

Expensive time for PC's back then in 1994, purple shirted place was the only decent place for me to go & buy bits for it at the time. These day's its a last resort for me to go there. :p

Nope - my 1st computer was one of these these (Actually I had one of these before that but despite being programmable in BASIC it doesn't really count as a computer I guess)

Went from the MZ80k to a BBC 'B' and then 1st 'proper' PC was an old IBM PC around '85 which was swiftly followed by a series of Amstrads (PC1512, PC1640, PC2286, PC1386) but ever since then either a self-build or custom build which included compnents such as a Matrox Millennium GFX card that had 2mb onboard and a 2mb expansion - which between them cost about £300 or so

You sure that was 1987? Seems quite a high spec machine for '87, esp to have a Rage II and Voodoo1 plus 32mb ram

think he meant 97 i had a similar machine around then.

my first machine was in 94, clearence but still near a grand i think

4mb (shoulda got 8)
486sx266 (shoulda been dx)
cd rom drive
some sound card or onboard which allowed speech
no idea what gfx.
by 95 eveything needed 8mb of ram, by 96 everything needed pentiums and allot needed 3dfx, man things moved allot quicker then. i mostly used it t play point and click adventure games.

The first PC is used was my dads 486DX2/66 which i played Theme Park on after my Amiga 1200 died :p

My first PC that was mine was a Pentium 166 MMX with a whopping 32Mb RAM. I cant really remember what else it had apart from a huge AWE32 soundcard that had its own memory slots and i payed extra for a 350Mb tape drive. Also had Windows 95 on it.

God, now you're talking!

First computer I could call my own was:

100MHz Pentium S
16 Mb of RAM
4 Mb ATI GFX (can't remember model)
2 GB HDD
AWE 32 sound card
Windows 95

That machine was awesome! Especially the 28.8k external modem.
