What Speed Memory?

I'm thinking of getting a P8Z77-V which apparently supports up to 1600MHz or up to 2400 MHz OC.

Given there is a relatively small price difference between memory speeds, is it worth getting 2000MHz+ memory or just stick with 1600MHz?

How easy is it to over clock motherboard memory slots and will it make much difference?

Far as I am aware anything higher than 1600mhz very minimal difference in performance gain if any.

The Corsair below will be fine.

I've just been doing some research on the matter for an upcoming Sandy Bridge build. After reading articles on anandtech and tomshardware amongst others, the one thing that I consistently read time and time again is that when it comes to gaming performance, memory speeds above 1600mhz only have tiny, tiny advantages. I'm talking less than a single frame difference between speeds.

Here's a link to the anandtech article - http://www.anandtech.com/show/4503/sandy-bridge-memory-scaling-choosing-the-best-ddr3/6

Gains from memory overclocking are small yes, but my view is that if it's easy and not costing much then it's worth doing.

The Z77 chipset with Ivy Bridge are very good at memory overclocking and it's worth looking at the huge thread on this forum about the Samsung Green memory which is very reasonably priced. It's rated at 1600 but will hit 2000+ easily and go beyond that with little work. To me, that's a no-brainer.

Just goes to show that my brain doesn't function late at night. I mean't to mention the Samsung RAM and I also failed to convey my point. It's not worth spending extra money on higher speeds when there's RAM like the Samsung Green that easily overclock to much higher speeds.

Samsung green is what I've ordered for my P8Z77-WS, not on the compatibility list but I have a feeling it'll be ok. Main reason I wanted it is it's also low profile!

Go for Samsung Green like halfmad suggested. They are the most versatile sticks by far for the price, which is extremely cheap for what you get. However, 1600MHz is plenty for that board.
