Hi guys,

Moved into a new flat, currently has talktalk :/

This is their own router which looks poor and these are the stats:

ADSL Mode ADSL2 PLUS

Interleaving On

DSL Line Speed
up 890 kbps

down 2967 kbps

Line Attenuation
up 27.8

down 46.0

SN Margin
up 6.1

down 6.0

800metres (as the crow flies, not line length) from Mile End exchange which appears to be enabled for all sorts.

Based on current attenuation around 6.5 Mbit. Current speed could be the result of additional noise on the line from extensions or something affecting the external local loop.

Thanks Tealc. As it's a flat, I've searched everywhere to find the master socket and there just doesn't appear to be one. The one it is plugged into has two white cables with their obvious coloured ones coming in / going out and plugging into this multi faceplate (has phone, sky, radio, aerial etc.) ... I wonder if it's worth disconnecting one of these as we don't use a phone whatsoever.

Could the router itself cause an issue with speed and is it worth getting a different one rather than the supplied talktalk router? I may just see about upgrading to sky fibre. Their website says I can get it.
