Hello!

I have a really awesome NAD amp and speakers which I bought 30 years ago or so. I've dusted them off and would like to pair them with a good internet streaming device. I'm looking to get internet radio (DAB as a bonus), access to streaming services like Spotify, and be able to play music from my NAS.

I was interested in the Majority Fitzwilliam 3. It has a nice display and ticks the boxes, except I don't think it streams from a NAS.

What would be a good budget option?

Thanks!

Wiim Ultra. Got one myself. Good piece of gear. Can access music from USB HDD/flash stick, samba, UPNP server. Haven't really the last bits, apart from accessing my LMS server. I don't do any radio streaming as generally the bitrate quality is pretty bad unless you have subscription service which I don't.

Wiim Ultra doesn't support airplay FYI

Small screen though, would have been nice if it was Eversolo sized screen.

There's eversolo of course, two models, £700 and £1200 ish.

I've got the Wiim Amp and it works really well with the remote and airplay. Usually have custom url internet radio stations on it, but streams nicely from the phone too. Only downside to phone-streaming is it saps the battery.

I have a Wiim Pro with an iFi Elite PSU connected optically into quite a high end external DAC, sounds amazing for streaming and very close to SACD from Amazon Music HD. No screen on this setup and have to use my phone.

As hornetstinger says Wiim Ultra, picked one up a few back and connected up to my Cyrus kit, good internal DAC too. Easy setup and sounds great.

I've got a Wiim Ultra arriving tomorrow. Very excited to see how it performs as my do-everything pre-amp, receiver and streamer.

I'm replacing all my Sonos gear and this (in part) will replace the Sonos Amp. I'm looking forward to the additional features over the Sonos, even some quite rudimentary things like being able to use headphones.

One thing I've not been able to glean from the reviews is how well it handles dialogue over HDMI Arc. The Sonos Amp does an ok job and the speech enhancement mode helps somewhat. Does having decent EQ control on the Wiim make this less of an issue?

I'm happy with it. Got a umik so used the room EQ, now offers individual left and right and allows multiple peq presets.

The home app is ok.

Don't like upnp so use a raspberry pi running lms that is fantastic music server . Wiim support softsquueze so they're seen as squeezeboxes

To answer my own question: out of the box, dialogue sounds ok and with EQ it's pretty decent.

Really enjoying the box overall. Having a remote control and the touchscreen are a huge win over the Sonos.

I got a Wiim Ultra whilst it was discounted recently as well. Nice little thing it is to.

All my media is stored on a Synology NAS. I also have a PC next to it that is only used as a Plex server and for cycling stuff (Zwift and Rouvy). The Synology is old and underpowered so all that can run is MinimServer.

I tested Plex, UPnp and just browsing the network to see if I could hear any difference in sound quality on the Wiimcast. The all sound the same to me so I just use the one with the best interface which for me is Plex.

I haven't used plex but I like LMS, with material skin plugin and app.

I have just stuck LMS on my the PC running Plex Server to compare.

There isnt a native 'service' for LMS on the Wiim Home app so what are you using to select what to play etc. im on iOS and iPeng looks decent but its £8.99.

make sure you install the material skin plugin in LMS server/plugins. I also user album and artist info plus enabe the album/single release type tag
