What tablet to buy?

My wife is looking to upgrade from her Kindle to a new tablet, but there are so many on the market.

It would be used for the following...
eBooks
You-tube
Facebook
General internet surfing

I have had a quick look at the Kindle Fire HD and the Nook HD+, but know there are many others (Nexus 7, Samsung Tab etc).

Any recommendations on which would be best for my wife?
Do all the tablets allow for Kindle books, or only the Kindle tablet?

Yes there is a new Nexus 7 out soon that features a full HD 1080p screen. worth waiting if u decide to spend bit more cash.

Would the new Nexus allow my wife to import her already purchased books from her Kindle?

Kindle books are available on any device (running Kindle software) linked to the same account.

I can see the same books I've bought on my Kindle, iPhone, Nexus 7, desktop etc. They'll even sync to the correct place to continue reading.
