What temp should I be looking at?

Got a 7750+ BE according to everest its idleing at 48c But I've also got the core temp, and that reports its 25c both cores, so does it matter that it's higher for the whole cpu or should I just be looking at the core temps?

Yeah I ran that and it said core was 25c, just worried the cpu is reporting 46c etc that's with cool n quite on.

Hmmm some do misreport like I say coretemp should be quite accurate maybe have a look at some more hardware monitors ............ I use abit myself and seems to be ok .... sorry too early in the morning ive read that much about temps recently yet cant seem to remember if anyone has reported everest as misreading .......... personally id go with core temp as long as youve got good case cooling I would feel happy

Ok cheers, this is the fastest cpu I've owned so might be warmer as it's clocked higher.

Try downloading the AMD Overclocking utility ... that will give a status of temp, voltages. freqs etc even if you not going to use its overclocking features. Given you've got an AMD CPU and and AMD chipset then I'd assume that it will read the correct temp sensor! You can either use this directly or compare its results with readings on other tools to identify which temp reading is the CPU core!

What are you using as a cpu cooler .... they're nice idle temps

Just the stock cooler, with cool n quite turned on, my cpu hit 60c under load but the cores only went up to 33c each.

That doesn't seem right, only 8c higher at load but the chip reporting as 60c?

Yeah it seems to be almost doubling the temp from the cores and giving a cpu temp in total.

Is it the latest version of core temp ? older versions were giving wrong temps for some cores by around ten degrees

Yeah I've tried the latest version and the new beta version, both report cpu as 26c but thats a core temp not the whole cpu temp.

Its up to you at the end of the day ....... coretemp is trustworthy and uses sensors actually inside the cpu ( I think ). O ther temp monitors use sensors on the motherboard in close proximity to the cpu and it has been known for these to be unreliable ....... I'd be googling specifically about your m/b and see if anyone has had problems with that particular m/b

Yeah, I've been googling a bit and seems this cpu does run hot with the stock cooler, I think the cut off is 73c so I have a little head room.
