hi all i was thinking of getin this bundle.

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-030-OB

im gettin the rampage 3 exetreme with it what kind of temps do you reckon ill get mainly for gaming. the cooler is one of the best dont wanna get a toaster to be honest im also after the new haf x case also..

what i mean buy temps is like running prime 95 i no that overclockers run these sort things but im just a bit curious.. be for i buy..

I had a similar bundle (with the 920) and that reached 90 in Prime95. I was able to reduce the voltage though and have it run cooler. Dropped it to 3.6 now as 4.0+ is just a waste of time for me, at the moment.

The voltage bump needed to go from 4ghz to 4.2ghz is pretty huge and makes a lot of heat. 90+ degrees on air (prime linx etc) is not uncommon at these voltages especially in the summer and with average mounting of the cooler (not everyone gets it right). In many games there are virtually no gains to fps beyond 3.7-3.8ghz anyway.

@scubes: If I remember correctly, core 2 was 1-2 degrees cooler, cores 3 & 4 were around 84-86C. I didn't let the stress test go on for much longer than 10-15 minutes as I thought I was going to melt something. But I noticed that as time went on, the temperature in the other cores was rising up and I'd say if I left it cores 2-4 would have reached the same temp ~88C.

The bundle does come with a good cooler, but only 1 fan, if you where to add a 2nd fan onto the cooler, the temps would probably be a lot better, not massively but would drop to more comfortable levels.

You could always ring them and ask them to add a 2nd fan in, or if your case can take it get the Noctua NH-D14 instead of the cooler it comes with.

all i want is a pc to play games on mostly will this bundle be safe at these temps do you guys reckon?...

Personally if your only after a gaming machine, id go for this one, and switch the motherboard in the bundle to this one, Asus P6X58D-E.

Will still make a cracking gaming rig, is a fair bit cheaper then the other bundle aswell, and unless your encoding and stuff like that, u won't notice the extra speed from the other bundle.

Or theres this for roughly the same price, again another good base of any gaming rig, both considerably cheaper then the 4.2ghz bundle.

Yes only if you are overclocking inside an oven or have done something seriously wrong.

The temps of the Krypton 4.2 bundle is between 75-80C depending on case, ambients etc. None of our overclocks compromise component life to an extent where they are damaging as none of our overclocks exceed Intel's maximum recommended voltages.

Max i hit on LinX/IBT is 76c, 4ghz, 21 x 193, 1.2750 vcore, my TRUE could do with a clean as its a bit dirty, id like to try for 4.2ghz, but im gonna have to wait till winter or get the cash for watercooling.

It's been shown that on a lot of coolers the 2nd fan only helps by 2-3C...

Suppose it depends somewhat on the cooler and the fans used, think it was the Venom review I saw recently where they only saw a 2C improvement.

would a antec 1200 or a coolermaster hafx help this do you reckon and what are the idle temps of this bundle i sent a webnote about changing the cooler to the new noctua one if (possible)..
