Hi

i have just changed from a Q6600 to a E8400 and my temps are 36/37 at idle....on the Quad they were 21/25 at idle....is this normal for a 8400 to run warmer than a quad....i was expecting lower on a water cooled system

thx in advance for any imput.

well 45nm are meant to run cooler than 65 nm...

how many volts are going through it?
what are your load temps?
what is your water sytem?

using a Kandalf lcs case
1.38 v
cant measure load...cant find a prog to run on 64bit vista...any recomendations

using real temp for idle temps

i use real temp for load and idle coretemp no good for e8***

ps are you sure you need that much volts?

I've got a E8400, running 3.6 @ 1.245V, idling around 30, load around 45-50 at highest.

This is all on air :)

cpu volts now reading 1.192....used everest stress testing and temps went up to 37 at full load....running 29/30 at idle...this is with realtemp as a guide....everest reads cpu temps at 40 at idle.....10 degrees different for some reason

i would just go by real temp, seems a lot of people used it for 45nm.. nice temps now mate:)
