I've been mucking about trying to find overclocking tools to overclock my 8800 GTX. I also increased the system ram by 1GB. Somewhere along the line my 3DMark just dropped from 9812 to 5001.

What the?

Anyone spot the obvious mistake?

Quake 4 still seems to run exactly the same with everything maxed out though...?

I'm thinking i've done something with these broken overclocking tools.
I installed nvstrap (whatever that is) in rivatuner and i've just uninstalled it.

I think though this has happened since I installed atitools.

Hmm ** 3dtests mainly are very low, have you tried diff drivers, have you looked if nvidia panel doesn't have aa and AF left on and finally, have you tested it in xp?

These drivers, this hardware, this OS was producing 9812 this morning though...

Is this right in that results browser?

Video Memory 512 MB 512 MB

Core Clock 108 MHz 108 MHz

Memory Clock 297 MHz 297 MHz

That all looks totally wrong to me.

Antialiasing - Gamma correction is on
AF And "AntiAliasing - Mode" are both "application controlled"

AA -= Transparency is off

well try xp or older drivers then.
Yor clocks are well below.....

For exapmle my GTS 640 is at (slighty overclocked)

Core 513

Memory 792

Hope that helps a little.....

the 3d mark applications always show lower clocks than the card is actually at.. it shows my 320mb GTS as the same as your GTX when in fact theyre much higher.

No idea why it does this, as its not 2d clocks or anything...strange

well nvidia control panel thinks the clock speed and memory speed are both 0.

How can I see what these are actually set to?? I'm worried I've set these to something and changed the actual values on the card

its an asus p5b delux, G-skill RAM, 4x1GB identical sticks. BFG OC 8800 GTX (768MB). A pair of 76GB raptors in raid 0 and a 750GB seagate 7200.10. And a e6600 C2D.

You might have a similar problem to me.

The P5b deluxe has a bug whereby the PCI Express bus/lane speed can default to x1 mode instead of x16.

I only get this problem now if I restart my machine, it's ok from cold boot.

The best way to verify this is to use CPU-Z program which can display the PCI-E bus speed.

Let me know what you find.

Apparently this can be fixed by raising the PCI-E frequency to 105+ or by increasing Northbridge voltage so ive heard. Worth a try i suppose:)

CPU-Z says

PCI-Express on Graphics Interface
Link width x16
Max Supported x16

I've set the PCI-E frequency to 100MHz - should I raise it?
