What the difference between CASTROL MAGNATEC A1 & A3/B4

Does anyone know what the difference is between these two Castrol Magnatec oils ??

Castrol Magnatec 5W-30 A1 Fully Synthetic
Castrol Magnatec 5W-30 A3/B4 Fully Synthetic

What the A1 & A3/B4 mean ??

A1 Fuel economy petrol

A3 High performance and/or extended drain
B4 For direct injection car diesel engines

Put simply, A3/B3, A5/B5 and C3 oils are the better quality, stay in grade performance oils.

A1 = 2.9 HTHS

A3/B4 = 3.5 HTHS

That's just one test result of many that will go into the approval rating of that oil. I can't see how what you've posted makes the information in that link invalid though? (Not saying it is all 100% correct.)

HTHS stands for High Temperature High Sheer, it's a specification test that oils must pass before they can be approved to a manufacturer's rating.
