Part of the serial number probably encodes the manufacture date.

My macbook for instance...

Model: - MacBook (13-inch Late 2006)

Build Country: - Your Mac was built in China.
Build Year: - Your Mac was built in 2007.
Build Week - Your Mac was built in week 6 of that year (February).
Production Nr.: - Your Mac was number 191 to be built that week.

Note this doesn't tell you when it was bought... it could have languished on the shelf for months.

That website says cant find my details. I think mine is a 2006 model.. It a MBP 15inch Core 2 Due 2.16

That found it cheers and it came to the year I though It was made in Oct 2006 and I did though i bough it Nov 2006

She needs a codename
