what the heck is ntoskrn1.exe use for?

Any idea what ntoskrn1.exe is used for, ive googled it, still none the wiser. Also i could do with finding one of these to put back onto a PC.

It was indeed NTOSKRNL, the help desk that supplied the ticket put it down as NTOSKRN1 lol.... i forgot not to believe what i read from that lot...

Cheers all... ended up being a rebuild any way. Then the HDD broke so back to base it goes....
