What the hell has happend to my monitor?

Ok, it was working ok before a while ago, but then i turned it on a few weeks back and it was not proper colour anymore, but it looked like the red was missing but it wasnt. Its so hard for me to describe. Ill post a Screenshot later when i use the machine.

Basically it looks tinted, dull..Is something broken? Is it repairable?

could be a damaged pin on the connector. some of the deal with some of the colours. I had one where the connector to the gfx card had a bent pin and when I plugged it in it didnt have a colour

I don't have a GFX card..Onboard graphics...Could they have gone? Its a 8mb onboard shared GFX thingy which takes the memory from my ram.

But your monitor still plugs into the computer....check to see if any of the pins are broken

EDIT: Ok, i just looked and it looks like there is a pin missing from the plug which goes into the box from the monitor.. OR is it supposed to be like that?

There will be some pins missing from the cable.
What sort of monitor is it, a CRT or LCD? If it is CRT, one of the colour guns could be faulty. If it is an LCD, check the colour, brightness, gamma and contrast settings. Reset them to default.

Er, you tried the easy option yet of twiddling the monitor cable either end...

Or if you can, try turning your monitor ALL directions and see if anything changes, if it does, move it to a new location to see if the colours sort themselves out...

ok, i mean by literally moving either end of the monitor cable, the end at the monitor and the end at the graphics card...Although that only helps if the entire screen of your monitor is shaded in one colour...like a red or green etc...

Like i said try moving your monitor on its tilting axis ie up down left right to see if the colours change...
