After posting up a thread last week asking for advice on cars for my mate for £7k, I decided that I too need a daily drive as my poor S2000 is doing too many miles at the moment.
So, the S2000 is now my weekend and trackday car and I've acquired a new vehicle to drive about as a daily.

She's a 2004 (53) Jaguar S-Type R Plus on 71k miles and with 2 owners.
Full Jag service history including receipts for absolutely everything, even replacement bulbs and tyres. It has had a recent service and has 4, new Conti SC2s on her.
She's in absolutely lovely condition inside and out.

Specs:
4.2L 32V V8 with supercharger
400bhp
CATS variable suspension
Touchscreen DVD nav
Premium hifi (Alpine)
Brembo brakes
Electric, memory everything (even pedals)

I paid £6300 which for the amount of car and the performance on offer is pretty impressive.

I'll post better pics up later tonight but for the mean time, here's the advert pics and a couple shot by my mate.

Summer finally arrives and you stop driving the soft-top daily in favour of a Jag?:eek::p

Hehe, it does seem a little silly aye. Unfortunately, I'm doing about 800 business miles a week at the moment and the S2000 will just die if I keep that up. Much better to just use it when the weather is good and when I can drive on fun roads rather than motorways. I love the car and I don't want to wear it out!

Nice car, I personally don't see the point in spending 6.3k on a car to reduce mileage on a 6 year old S2000, but nice car anyways.

There is no point. I'm not going to justify it economically. I just fancied a daily that's more comfortable for distance work.

That thing would make the S2000 look like it was going backwards!

Huge amount of car for the money and don't cost a small planet to run. :)

Gonna bring it to the RR day Rilot?
Do you find it lights up the rears easily or can it put the power down?

:D

I do know what you mean, but personally I'm very much looking forward to a 200 mile motorway cruise, top down, stereo turned up, singing along, getting burnt to a crisp... :D

I must admit I've never actually driven an S2K, but I gather it can be comparatively hard (but fun) work given the nature of the engine etc. That's one of the reasons I plumped for something a little comfier as I knew I'd be doing high mileage...

was having a look at these as my daily drive but the epic unreliability and equally epic possible repair bills put me off. nice car tho :)

Thats a lot of car/performance for the money!!
Book puts them at 22mpg, wonder just how attainable that is in a 4.2l

Might be hard, but maybe the supercharger helps improve the engines fuel efficiency?

My S-Type averages approx 25-26mpg driving it sedately around town and too and from work. The moment you start to drive it spirited though and that drops too 21-23mpg.

On a motorway run though it does very well seeing 36-38mpg. :)

So I just drive it with a light foot apart from the odd blast to clear it out, afterall its just a cheap comfy run-around for me, thrashing it and something will pop and that 3.0l knows how to drink when you have a lead foot. :D

The stype r doesn't seem to have many weak spots for reliability. The early stypes were shocking though.

If it dies horribly I'll just get it fixed. I have a slush fund for unexpected repairs and having 2 cars it doesn't really matter if it's off the road for a bit.

This, neighbour has one, he says its cost him nothing, apart from fuel. :D

My S-Type is an early one, but its been good, but when I got it I serviced pretty much all the servicable parts on the car, oil, filter, plugs etc. and its ran sweet ever since. I also replaced the header tank when I got it as it had cracked which is common and changed all the coolant.

Since then its ran fine and is a nice comfy cruiser, like a sponge with its 60/65 profile tyres its on lol.

Superchargers are awful for economy, even on light load/cruising they will still be creating a small amount of boost and using more fuel than needed.

This is probably why most manufactures use a turbo and make sure that the car sits 500rpm below spooling at 70 in 5th to help economy figures.
