I just noticed this while I been still trying to get my Radeon 9800 Pro card to work.

I know it's part of WinVNC but I have never seen it in any version I have used before.

Could this be what is affecting my Radeon card ??

winvnc is nothing to do with the graphics card driver wise. Its a small program that allows another user to remotely connect to the machine either to watch what you are doing or control the PC itself

I know what WinVNC is, I am asking what the winvnc video hook driver is that appears in my Device Manager under Display Adaptors

Sorry boss didnt read the post properly...

no it shouldnt cause any problems. as stated its just there to improve performace when client is connecting to the host

rather than outputting display to monitor and vnc having to read the screen bit by bit ( polling ) which slows down the draw performance remotely. It uses a 'virtual' driver ( the hook driver ) to sandwich into the video layer, so that data gets sent to yoru graphics card AND vnc in real time, without vnc having to analyse the output seperately or in set increments. The video data is streamed to the VNC engine as its generated.

Wow a great informative answer there, thanks.

Not sure if it made a difference but I removed that driver from the device manager. VNC still seems to work fine (if not better) and my Radeon 9800 Pro has reported 128mb for the last day.
