Thanks all - carpet beetle larvae!

yea there stinking we an an infestation of them a few years ago horrible things!

managed to kill them off after many months of constantly looking for them! they tend to come out when its dark so i used to roam around the house with a hoover late at night , they stay along the edges of the carpet and are hard to spot sometimes without a torch (even when the light is on)

look under furniture that never gets moved aswell , beds , cots , anything that has enough space for something to crawl under , you will probably find somewhere with a lot of empty "casings" from where the grubs have turned into beetles, the "casings" are basicly hollow larvae.

i put ant powder around the edge of every room i'd ever saw a larvae or beetle in and anywhere i had found the larvae casings and eventually never saw anymore come back, you have to be vigilant though
