I turned on my computer this morning, as I normally do. But when Windows booted everything was gone.

Only the recycle bin was on the desktop. It was like my C: drive had been formatted, except all my programs were still installed. Everything in My Documents is gone, everything in my C drive is gone except for installed programs.

I checked the event viewer and it was normal, no errors or anything. Even Opera went back to its default skin and layout o.O

Is there any way I can get it back to the way it was yesterday? Like, can I do a forward system restore or something. lol.

Try system restore. Did you run any REGISTRY tools? since most settings are held there.

*phew*

I just got back from doing system restore and everthing is fine now. I didn't think it would work actually.

All sorted now.

And nah, I didn't run any registry tools. It just happened. Weird.

Thanks.

Okay then it was probberly the reg, since system and app settings are held there. I never liked System Restore myself however I had a problem like you (not a settings one) and ended up formatting and now I feel System Restore is much better than I used to think.

Just imagine if you had to format, more downtime?

Formatting would have been horrible because yesterday I moved some of the stuff I needed from my backup HDD onto my main HDD (C:), so it I'm very glad I didn't need to format. :o
