I have just got my new baby up and running.

I started to play some fear and hit the benchmark.

All of a sudden a screw flew out landed next to me screen went blank the gpu fan hit up to 100% by the sound of it.

It seems the screws came from the back of the gpu its one the screws that goes into the cross thing on the back of the 4870 x2

I though it was gone but its back on now i tried to screw it back in but it wont go in.

Ive checked gpu z and temps on idle are 43 so im assuming its normall.

Its got me worried now should i be worried about it popping out? it looks to me like its part of the heatsink of something.

60C under load is a very nice temperature lol, put the screw back in place if it happens again or if you get problems with the actual gaming side send it back.

Yeah, that'll be one of the heatsink screws. They have little springs behind them on my 4850, so that'll be why it pinged out.

As long as 3 legs are secure, you shouldn't have any temperature problems. But if another one fails, the heatsink will swing off and you'll fry your GPU. And considering you now have 3 legs bearing the load that 4 legs should...

If it were me, I'd RMA it.

i got 2 years on it if it stops working then i will rma it seems fine though.

The black thing on the board is extremely hot but i assume that is normal for the 4870 x2?

lol i always get bad things happen to a me a pc doesnt like to live in my company.

Like i said pointless rma it when its working fine.

At least get a new heatsink backplate then. Or a new heatsink if they're not available. If one more screw goes, the bottom of the heatsink will lose contact with the GPU. Your hugely expensive card will be ruined.

I do not know how to put the back plate in i tried to put the screw back in but it wont just doesnt screw up.

Not sure if their is a spring with it cant see it lol.
