I was looking to blow 2k on a plasma with the proceeds from my ST24, but tbh i dont watch any tv and my 2nd love is cars (1st being football, the missus scrapes in 3rd/4th :p ) so it got me thinking what sort of motor could i buy for 2k to tweak up and whatever, its not going to be a daily driver, so fuel/mileage/practicality are just not important.

I was thinking either jap or german(e30?) something which has parts easily available, eventually, prob in 2007 I will be taking the car to track days, but i want something to basically tune up over the summer.

What do ya reckon lads

Escorts are pretty hard to come by tbh, if i could get one i would have one tbh.

I like the idea of a 200sx, i have had loads of 306`s so i really dont want another, 205 is a possibility, but again they are fairly pricey for a good one, my other thought was to keep the mondy, but i think v6 needs too much money spending on it squeeze the horses out.

I really want a car that i can tweak the engine, couldnt care less about the exterior.

Anyone know what the modding potential is on the older civic/crx vtecs?

Been offered a tubby for 600 notes on a J plate, it needs a front bumper respray, but its fairly std, might look at that.

So its looking a 200sx then, what age/mileage can i get for 2k?

your asking for a cheap motor, i take it you have the money to support the car and insure it?
wouldnt want you to buy a car you like for it to then go bang when you mod it :<

Oh yeah, this is purely a toy, im having a company car with a fuel card you see.I was going to buy a house but it fell through, so im putting it off for a bit, also im travelling loads for work too so i dont see the point in spending 200k on a house and only living in it for half of a year!

Im quite liking the idea of the fiat coupe actually something a bit different.whats the modding potential and parts availability like?

So far its looking like (anymore to throw into the pot.)

200sx s13,200sx s14,fiat turbo,R5GTT, HMMM decisions decisions.

Depends what you mean by modding.
If you want to put a big stereo in it, a 306.
For straightline performance, a 200SX or similar makes a lot of sense.
For trackwork, not sure that the 200 would be the optimum choice. Yes it's rwd, can be rather powerful, but it's also rather heavy (S13 = 1100kg+ if I remember correctly).
For track work, might be better to find a 7 copy which might not be fast in a straightline, but would be pretty good on a track.

Yeah its most likely going to be for trackwork, done the stereo thing already!

Somebody at work has just planted a kitcar idea in my head hmmm.

Didnt realise the s13 was so heavy, i know the s14 is a bloater.
