Ok, now i have a 2nd computer, which is an AMD Sempron 2800+, ive just fired it up and everything was working fine. I started up cpuz just to have a look and everything was fine there too.

Now i turned off my PC and opened it up to to test one of my old IDE Hard drives, and i noticed on the POST screen it said AMD Athlon MP 1500+. So when i got into windows i fired up CPUZ again and it said the same, AMD Athlon MP 1500+ and to clock speed was 1.3ghz???

I dont understand how my AMD Sempron 2800+ (2ghz) can change into an AMD Athlon MP 1500+ by switching out a HardDrive?

Theres no overclocking options or anything in the BIOS (this is a 7 year old PC)

You sure theres no settings in the bios? Was thinking perhaps cmos battery is kaput and its reset since you powered down/switched out components..

no ideas then sorry fella.. I had an old amd chip that did that before when i reset the cmos, so I thought prhaps that was it.. better wait for someone who has a clue to post :)

i guess it would make sense as my sempron is a rebranded athlon xp 2400+, thats what i've been reading, but ive reset the CMOS loads of times and thats never happened.
