What thermal paste?

Hi

I'm planning on a 5900x with a Galahad 360 cooler. What's considered a good thermal paste to use for this setup? I've just looked on OC and there's loads and the price range is significant.

I'd probably want to buy more than just one application (unless it has a shelf life?) but I'm not likely to be building lots of systems so wont need loads.

Can the paste be used elsewhere in a system to improve stock applications?

Many Thanks

Themal grissly seems to be the go to at the moment I've used it on my 2080 super also I've used mx4 for a while.

Another vote for TG, done a few different builds and a GFX card with it, cant fault the stuff.

i don't know bud. but i do own it (bought it on the 3rd of this month) and the temps are roughly the same as kryonaut for me. it's a nice baby blue colour too :)

If temps roughly same as Kryonaut then it sounds good.

I was / still am a big fan of IC Diamond (used it over 10 years), am looking for a paste to switch to, MX 5 could be it :-)

Toms Hardware graphs show this stuff as the best for thermal conductivity. I never tried it myself.
That's liquid metal so will always have a higher heat transfer than normal pastes but the downside is its electrically conductive so if any drips off then your likely to short something.

I'm currently using the NT-H2 from Noctua.

I've also heard liquid metal is the best, but have never tried it. IMO though it doesn't matter much especially if you repaste the CPU once every 1-2 years.

Thank you. I've just bought some.

Let us know how it goes The video makes it look easy enough to apply (away from the mobo). And the review figures from around the net are putting it way ahead of Artic and Thermal Grizz. When my 5900x ever arrives I should get some too i 'spose.

I wonder if it needs replacing after some time.

I always used Arctic MX-4, have been using for years and I even ordered one a few weeks ago form OcUK, didn't know about the MX-5, will maybe buy it in the future after I run out.
