what thickness acrylic will be ok for my 700D custom panel?

This sounds daft as I have the case AND the acrylic before me but I can't decide on something.

The way the panels go on the 700/800D it doesn't look like it leaves much room for any acrylic to be 'glued' from the inside to the steel panel. Like it would collide with the various internal partitions...

HOW thick is the stock acrylic corsair uses? 2mm? that obviously goes past the lower division/PSU divider area fine.

My stuff is 3mm and am just concerned about how I am going to be doing this... I don't want to cut out my intended shape out only to find the acrylic on the inside is fouling against something.

Can anyone put me out of my misery?

I don't know the answer but I think I know how you can test fit.

make some small 3mm blocks either out of ply or from the panel you hae if you can spare a bit. Attach them to the areas you think will foul and try to fit the door. If it fouls you'llfind out.

Alternativly use blue ack moulded to be 3mm thick and again fit to the areas most likely. this time if it fouls it will leave an impression which you can then guage to see how thin you need to go.

hope this helps, kinda hard without the case here in front of me

Why do you want your custom window to go past the bottom divider? Most people seem to use the opportunity of a custom window to hide the psu area.

cheers G-dubs, I had thought of what you suggested but don't have any blutack on me argh!

I am really struggling to see how even the stock window works, the tolerances seem so small.

@Bubo, I know, its STILL an ongoing conflict in my head. The shape I want to do is similar to the curve on the NZXT lexa case.

Even though showing the PSU bay is ugly, the curve at the front part of the window will be longer and more elegant looking IMO than from the division up.

But yeh, you are right, it should be an opportunity to hide that crap down there.
I still DON'T KNOW lol:(

EDIT:
Weeeellll I just masking taped the WHOLE acrylic 3mm sheet to the panel and the panel WENT ON!

Couldn't believe it, hopefully the mounting tape won't add to much to the thickness value, so now I have free reign over the size and shape I want to do:)

Hope this helps people in the future

EDIT EDIT:

Ach well not quite as easy as I thought, now the panel juts out where it meets the bezel:(
So maybe 3mm is excessive, 1mm will be too thin, 2mm might be the sweetspot

TB's window was nice here: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18162072

I have recently purchased 2mm for my panel on my CM-690 II Adv. I had to measure a lot of areas in my case to work out the best size. I think I would have gotten away with 3mm but 2mm was a lot cheaper to buy and seems fine to use. The tallest component in my PC is my Megahalems and we worked out that with the side panel on there is about 10-11mm of space left.
