hi ya just wondering when people say this, why do they do it

"Bump Bump! I'm sure someone must know?"

They are 'bumping' the thread back to the top of the thread listing because they expect that someone must know the answer to the question in the original post and so wish to bring it to everyone's attention again in order to gain maximum forum-user exposure.
