Yes this is rather a random question. I reckon flies and mosquitos are most active around evening/sunset - the state of my front bumper after an evening drive will prove this but when are there fewer mozzies buzzing about? Morning when it is cool?

Depends on the climate really, but Ive noticed out here that they arent very active from early morning to late afternoon, its when it gets to 5pm ish, that they start biting. Also, if you live high up (i.e. an apartment block, the higher you are, the less flies there are). I live on the 11th floor and can have all the doors and windows open without fear of mozzies coming in.

When I was in Costa Rica last year the local tour giude said it was the morning and evening rush hour of mossies.
The house martins and swallows around here are mostly active in the evening around 7pm(except if it is raining)

There are so many bloody green flies and thunderfies buzzing around at the moment, can't go outside without getting covered in them!
