I have a delicious looking medallion beef steak waiting to be fried.. Im not sure what to add to it though. Salt and pepper? Bit boring. Is there anything I can add to it to give it loadsa flavour? Cheers

Salt, pepper and garlic, then add a knob of garlic butter to the pan before resting it. Serve with dauphinois potato and fresh asparagus.

god almight who knows, just stick some mixed herbs on it.

or look to see what you have in your cupboard, or walk to the shops.

taste a bit salty no?

nah joking .. I had this really nice steak one time. It was really sweet but it had a nice load of pepper on it. Dunno what they put on it though

No! Never cook a good steak in garlic. To cook a steak well the pan has to be searing hot (well above the smoke point of butter, and to the point where it would incinerate the garlic - some chefs suggest using ground-nut oil as this has a much higher smoke point than many others), lightly sprinkle each side of the steak with coarse-ground salt and pepper and put to the pan for 1-2 mins on each side (or longer of you want it well done).

Once you've cooked it, and allowed it to rest, THEN put a knob of garlic butter over the top when you server it. This is how the Belgians eat steak - and they know a thing or two about the subject.

That's how I cook mine but without any garlic, surly garlic over powers the flavour of steak? I like garlic but I would not put it anywhere near a nice cut of steak.

What this man said. Baste the steak in the butter/juices then leave to rest for a few minutes before serving. Oh, minus the garlic because it will just burn (presuming you're cooking your steak at a ludicrously high heat like you should be.)

My girlfriend doesnt like asparagus so i normally fry up some spinach in some garlic. Steak + potato dauphinoise + garlic spinach = best dinner ever.
