Hey,

After upgrading my monitor to a 24" Widescreen, i'm starting to see the bottleneck my little Amd X2 5600 @ 3.0Ghz is causing to the GTX 280 i have.
Since i have a Mobo supporting AMD's new Processor's It looks like i'll stay with them for the time.

I Mostly use my PC for gaming; WoW, FarCry2, ARMA2 With the odd Sony Vegas session and i'm wondering which to go for,

The Phenom 2 550
The Phenom 2 720
The Phenom 2 940 / 955

I realise that its a pretty large choice with almost £100 separating the Cheapest from the Most expensive But which of these would provide me with the best Price-Performance for my situation as i'm a little stumped on which to go for as they all have there Pro's And Con's.

Thanks in Advance,

Matt

Still got the deluxe Yeah. It doesn't Officially support any of them, but looking round at other forums etc, any of the latest CPU's will work in the latest Bios.

If you got a new motherboard you MIGHT be able to unlock the 550, but the cost would be pretty much the same as getting a quad core anyway. If you can afford it then go for it. And since your motherboard is AM2 the best bet would be the 940. Anything else would be pointlessly more expensive and you can overclock that to the same speeds anyway.
